Evangel University Concert Results in "Tons of Food" for Needy

Tue, 05 Feb 2008 - 4:08 PM CST

Evangel University's traditional Christmas Concert fund-raiser for Ozarks Food Harvest resulted in the University's biggest turnout - and largest donation to The Food Bank. Last Friday, December 7, more than 1,200 guests attended "A Celebration of Christmas," according to Dr. Michael Kolstad, Music Department chair. The concert was hosted by local television (KY3) anchors Steve Grant and Brandon Beck, and featured presentations by the Evangel music, art and theatre departments. Evangel, located in Springfield, Missouri, collected 1,195 pounds of nonperishable food items and $800 in donations, which will provide more than 5,500 pounds of additional food assistance, according to OFH. The grand total was more than three tons of food. The donations will be divided among Ozarks Food Harvest's hunger relief partners.
