• Overall Responsibilities: Damascus Road Community Church (www.damascus.com), a quickly growing congregation located in the suburban area of Mount Airy, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Director of Children's Ministry. DRCC has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years, including many new, young families. The church sees that children are a gift from God, are part of God's plan, and have a purpose in God's plan. The children's ministry introduces children to Christ in a fun, transformational way, nurtures their personal relationship with Jesus, and provides mature Christians to serve as teachers who will disciple children in their faith. The Director of Children's Ministry will be responsible for developing (recruiting, equipping and encouraging) a team of staff, volunteers, and volunteer team leaders to ensure that all children are taught Biblical truth and feel welcomed, known and loved by God and His church. This person will mentor the children's ministry teams and foster strong connections and fellowship among them. S/he will equip parents as the primary spiritual mentors of their children. This person will also partner with leadership to develop a vision for the children's ministry that is in line with the church's overall vision, and will develop strategic steps to implement that vision. Qualifications include: • A solid, personal relationship with and a mature commitment to Jesus Christ • Acceptance and embracing of DRCC's Statement of Faith and Staff Covenant • Passion for and understanding of children and their spiritual development • Proven leadership and management in a collaborative team setting • Experience in recruiting, equipping and encouraging a multiple-team ministry • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written • Energetic, self-motivated, positive, goal-oriented, effective listener, and flexible • Ability to relate to those of all ages and levels of spiritual maturity • Bachelor's degree in related field (required), or Master's degree (preferred)
