An organized international prayer effort, spanning more than 40 U.S. states and at least eight different countries, will take place on Thursday, September 26, on behalf of imprisoned American pastor Saeed Abedini.
Abedini, currently imprisoned in Iran's notorious Evin Prison in Tehran for sharing his faith, has reportedly been subject to beatings and torture in an effort to get him to recant his faith. Reports of Abedini's failing health have also been issued.
Naghmeh, Abedini's wife, is working in cooperation with the American Center for Law and Justice and Billy and Franklin Graham to promote this prayer vigil, which is slated to take place on the year anniversary of Abedini's initial imprisonment at Evin Prison.
In an email to AG General Superintendent George O. Wood from Naghmeh Abedini, she explains that the event is being promoted on the front page of the September issue of the Billy Graham magazine and adds, "I have been in contact with some AOG churches and know that they are also involved in coordinating the prayer vigil."
