The Assemblies of God Executive Presbytery has recently approved the appointment of Dr. Marilyn Abplanalp as president of the Alliance for AG Higher Education (AAGHE). Abplanalp has been serving as interim leader of AAGHE since September 2012.
"Dr. Abplanalp follows the excellent leadership given by Dr. Bob Cook to the Alliance," states Dr. George O. Wood, general superintendent. "She has a passion for our universities, colleges and schools and will ably lead this vital area."
The Alliance for AG Higher Education's purpose is to endorse, promote and resource Assemblies of God colleges and universities. In addition to providing educational resources and developing standards endorsed colleges must meet, the AAGHE works to develop financial resources for schools and students in cooperation with AG Trust.
"Over the past 7 months, I have genuinely enjoyed providing leadership and witnessing God's provision in my service as interim president of the Alliance for AG Higher Education," Abplanalp states. "Now, as president, I look forward to God's continued guidance and blessing as we continue to creatively invest in the future of the Assemblies of God and our nation."
Prior to her appointment as interim president, Abplanalp was a vice-president for AAGHE faculty and student affairs for more than four years. Prior to that, she served 18 years at Bethany University in Scotts Valley, California - most recently as the associate dean for the School of Professional Studies and the director of the Master of Arts in Education.
