Approximately 15,000 people serve on short-term overseas team missions trips through AG World Missions (AGWM) each year. Last month, AGWM introduced a new online application that is designed to greatly simplify and speed up the process of coordinating nearly every aspect of these team trips.
"In recent years we have seen a phenomenal number of teams participate in short-term missions," says Rick Johnson, AGWM Personnel and Member Care director. "Due to this growth, we recognized a need to streamline the application process and create an online tool for team leaders to submit all of the necessary information."
The new online application process launches from the Teams page on the Wide Open Missions website, which provides step-by-step instructions. From there, users are directed to the newly-created processing website to complete the legal paperwork that previously had to be mailed or faxed to AG World Missions. The new system also automates the insurance fees for the team.
Some of the benefits of the new site include: 24/7 access; a simplified process and reduced delays; no faxing, scanning, or mailing forms to AGWM; easily add or remove team members up to one day prior to departure; automated insurance payments and refunds with credit/debit card; and online expense reporting for AG total giving credit. Customer service is available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central. AGWM offers assistance in both English and Spanish.
"Our team is happy to walk team leaders through this new online process," Johnson explains. "As AGWM sends greater numbers of people around the world each year, our department wants to continuously evaluate and improve the application process so that we can best serve those who are going."
For individuals who regularly participate in AGWM team missions, there is now a five-year volunteer certification that allows team members to have their insurance and legal forms on file. There is no need to duplicate paperwork every time a volunteer serves on a team missions trip.
Various specialized ministries can provide individuals and church teams with an overseas ministry opportunity or AGWM can customize a trip that meets each church's unique needs and ministry goals.
