|One of the features of the new 7:14 Prayer App is that it allows viewers to see a scrolling line of cities and states where people have clicked on the "I PRAYED TODAY" bar.|
The Assemblies of God, in conjunction with the 7:14 Prayer Movement, has recently released the 7:14 Prayer App for use with iPhones, iPads and Androids as well as an online version. It is already being considered one of the most innovative and unifying approaches to prayer in the history of the Assemblies of God.
"What is generating so much enthusiasm about the 7:14 Prayer App is its ability to count and track prayers across the nation," states AG General Superintendent George Wood. "As individuals press the 'I prayed today' button, it's inspiring to see the app flash the city and state of the latest prayer onto the screen and watch the running total for the day build. It's encouraging and comforting to know that you're not praying alone."
The 7:14 Prayer App, in addition to the prayer tracker, also offers daily devotionals, prayer time reminders, a prayer needs list and other features. It's also in an almost continuous upgrade mode.
"We launched originally with the iPhone and iPad versions, but recently have added the Android version and a website that mimics the phone app for those who don't have smart phones," Wood says. "As we move forward, we hope to add other features to the app that will one day encourage hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in maintaining a daily, active and healthy prayer life."
The 7:14 Prayer App is a part of the Assemblies of God 7:14 Prayer Movement, which is an initiative based upon 2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (NIV).
The purpose of the 7:14 Prayer Movement is to provide ongoing communication and encouragement for Christians to pray specifically for a true spiritual awakening in the United States as well as for specific needs and issues as they arise. The Prayer app is just one of many ways that the Assemblies of God is using to emphasize the power and importance of prayer, with the 7:14 Prayer Movement to be an ongoing and growing effort, including the "Second Chronicles 7:14" book and upcoming national 7:14 Prayer Conference (March 5-6) in Waxahachie, Texas.
