Fri, 21 Dec 2012 - 9:56 AM CST

Dania Hunter, wife of Rev. Hector Hunter, the Assemblies of God general superintendent of Cuba for the past 16 years, died unexpectedly Tuesday.

According to AG World Missions reports, Dania Hunter was rushed to the hospital and a short time later, passed away.

"God has sovereignly been at work within the Assemblies of God throughout Cuba under the leadership of Hector and Dania Hunter," says Dick Nicholson, AGWM Latin America/Caribbean regional director. "Please hold the family up in prayer during this difficult time. Sister Dania will be greatly missed."

U.S. AG General Superintendent George Wood expressed his deep regard and sympathy for the Hunter family.

"Through the efforts of Hector and Dania Hunter, the gospel message has been transforming countless lives in Cuba," Wood says. "Their selfless ministry and service to Christ and the people of Cuba, despite difficult circumstances, is truly remarkable. I cannot imagine the family's pain at the loss of Dania, but I pray for the peace and presence of the Holy Spirit to be with them and comfort them."

In 2007, Dr. Wood spoke at the 61st General Council of the Assemblies of God of Cuba. He observed that the church was a vibrant and fast growing church with a heart for their nation.
