For the past four years, AG News has published its annual Christmas Project, sharing what Assemblies of God churches, colleges and ministries are doing to meet the needs of the less fortunate in their communities during the holiday season.
This year, AG News is again requesting that AG churches, colleges and ministries participate in this Christmas project by submitting a sentence or two of 40 words or less (church name and location is not included in the word count) that shares what your church/ministry is doing to help meet the needs of the less fortunate in your community.
Responses will be compiled and published in a listing before Christmas, in hopes that our Fellowship will be encouraged by the compassionate ways God is working through his church to reach out to those in need.
Following are three submissions from last year as examples:
* Auburn Hills Christian Center, Auburn Hills, Michigan, was given 141 new coats from Happy's Pizza Coats for Kids project, which were distributed to the home church, two local schools, Children's Village, Olive Garden Giving Tree and neighbors who were in need.
* Central Assembly of God, Muskegon, Michigan, will be providing food baskets to 38 local families and gifts for 107 children. Additionally, $1,000 was collected and given to the fathers at Western Michigan Teen Challenge to purchase gifts for their children.
* First Pentecostal Assembly of God, Ottumwa, Iowa, reached out to single moms in the church and community with an afternoon of fun, freebies and a gospel presentation including worthwhile prizes, lunch, free haircuts and stuffing stockers.
To participate in the 2012 Christmas Project, send your e-mail response to firstname.lastname@example.org and write: "Christmas Project 5" in the subject line. The Christmas season efforts that can be included are those that have occurred or will occur between the dates of November 1, 2012, to January 2, 2013. The limit is 40 words (not including name or location). Deadline for submitting your church, college or ministry for this project of inspiration is Friday, December 14, 2012.
Whether you decide to participate in this listing or not, AG News would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those churches, colleges and ministries who do so much to make a difference in people's lives.
