Worship Leader Magazine highlights two AG churches

Wed, 01 Aug 2012 - 3:29 PM CST

Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri, and The Oaks Fellowship (AG) in Red Oak, Texas, were recognized in the July issue of Worship Leader Magazine as part of their Top 20 Worship Destinations feature.

"It's definitely an honor for both churches," says Debby Duncan, web content and promotions coordinator for the Assemblies of God Worship Resource and Consulting Department.

Many of the 20 churches mentioned were home to major artists in the worship world, such as Lincoln Brewster, Hillsong, Kari Jobe, Chris Tomlin, Brooklyn Tabernacle and Jesus Culture. The list included The Oaks Fellowship — home to worship leaders Shane & Shane. It also included Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. Central Assembly was chosen for its intentionality in bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary music formats, Duncan explains.

"Central Assembly is honored to have been chosen among the top 20 worship destinations in the United States," says Tom Matrone, worship director at Central. "As a worship leader, it is my desire to provide an authentic worship experience to our congregation and our community."

Matrone, who has led worship at Central for the past 16 years, also serves as consultant to the Worship Resource and Consulting Department of the Assemblies of God.

"While accolades like this are wonderful to receive," Matrone adds, "excellence in ministry combined with God's anointing is a powerful gift to the body of Christ."

Worship Leader resources more than 30,000 church leaders by providing biblical wisdom and best practices for worship since 1992.
