The Evangel’s Music Department will present its 28th annual Christmas Concert at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, in the Chapel auditorium.
The 75-minute program will include performances by Evangel University’s Orchestra, Chorale, Chorus, Jazz Band and Madrigal Singers.
Admission to the concert is the donation of nonperishable food items or cash to benefit The Salvation Army. The public is invited to attend.
Hosting the event will again be two Evangel University graduates: Steve Grant, award-winning KY3 news anchor, and Brandon Beck, KY3 Stormteam meteorologist.
“Evangel’s annual Christmas Concert is an exciting kick-off for the holiday season. We have more than 350 students and faculty involved in the production,” says Dr. Michael Kolstad, music department chair. “This is a tradition that many in the community look forward to every year.”
New this year, Evangel University campus pastor John Plake will be sharing the story of the miracle of Christmas.
This year's special guest will be the Sing His Praises Homeschool Choir, under the direction of Evangel alumni Krista Smith.
“The students are excited, both to perform and to assist the Salvation Army through the raising of food, donations, and awareness of those that have needs in the community,” Kolstad said.
All proceeds will be given to the Salvation Army to support their efforts in Springfield, Mo.
The Salvation Army’s nationwide campaign enables them to provide food, toys and clothing to more than six million people during the Christmas season.
Evangel is a private, Christian university of arts, sciences and professions that offers more than 100 undergraduate academic programs and 11 master’s programs. Fall enrollment has set a record for the second year in a row, with 2,168 students enrolled this semester.
