Goodwin traveled to Nationals after enjoying a record-breaking regular season including leading his team to the first ever NCAA DIII conference championship in NCU sports history.

During 2009 Goodwin won three matches individually and led his team to the regular season and post season Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships.
